I love to paint the 'everyday'.
When I try to explain why that is important to me I always think of the following quotes.
'Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things'.
I love this. It is the everyday, almost mundane things that really ARE the important stuff. The way a loved one does something, the way they walk, the way they stand when they are waiting on the kettle...the road you walk the dog with your sister, the cafe seat you always sit at with your best friend, the 'everyday'.
The other ...........
'If you want to learn what someone fears losing, watch what they photograph'.
This really struck me as I often take photos when my family are hanging out. Sometimes in the back garden or the sitting room, my dad trying to stop the dog barking, my mum maybe walking ahead of me when shopping, most of the time they never know i am taking the photo, if they did, they may stand differently, become self conscious, something that changes the realness of that moment.
This is what I love to paint. Painting it makes me feel that it has been saved and stored. Then I can't lose it.
There may be a moment like this that you want to capture forever in a painting? Contact me if it is something you would like to do.
